Is this the Chrome dinosaur game?
No. It is an independent game in the same spirit as the endless runner that Chrome shows when you are offline, rebuilt from scratch with its own pixel-art dinosaur, cacti and pterosaurs. It is not made by or affiliated with Google. The rules will feel familiar: run automatically, jump or duck to avoid obstacles, and the pace keeps rising the longer you last.
How does the scoring and speed work?
Your score is the distance you have run, starting at about 9 points a second. The running speed rises steadily from the moment you start and reaches its maximum — a little over twice the starting speed — after roughly 100 seconds, so points come in faster as the run goes on. The score briefly blinks every 100 points, unless your device asks for reduced motion.
When do the pterosaurs and night mode appear?
Flying pterosaurs join the cacti once you pass 250 points. They come at three heights: a low one you must jump, a head-height one you can duck under or jump, and a high one that passes over a running dinosaur but will catch you if you jump into it. At 700 points the scene fades to night for 250 points, and the cycle repeats every 700 points.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Tap anywhere on the game field to jump, and use the Jump and Duck buttons below it — hold Jump for a higher jump and hold Duck to stay crouched. The field scales to your screen width and is drawn at your display’s full pixel density, so the pixel art stays sharp on high-resolution phones.
Why does my run pause by itself?
The game pauses automatically when you switch tabs, minimize the window or lock your phone, so you never come back to a crash you did not see. Press Space, tap the field or press Resume to carry on from exactly where you stopped.
About this tool
This dinosaur game is a free endless runner that plays directly in the page — no download, no app and no account. It follows the idea made famous by the dinosaur that appears in Chrome when your connection drops: the dinosaur runs on its own, cacti and pterosaurs come at it, and your only jobs are to jump and to duck. Everything here, from the stegosaurus-plated green dinosaur to the cacti and pterosaurs, is original pixel art drawn on an HTML canvas, and once the page has loaded the game needs no internet connection at all.
The physics are built to be fair and consistent. The game advances in fixed steps of 1/120 of a second and draws smoothly in between, so the dinosaur runs at the same speed on a 60 Hz laptop screen as on a 120 Hz or 144 Hz gaming monitor. Collisions are checked pixel by pixel against the actual sprites rather than against loose rectangles, so a near miss that looks clear really is clear. The space after each obstacle grows with the running speed, which keeps a sensible amount of reaction time as the game gets faster.
Jump height depends on how long you hold the key: a quick tap gives a short hop that lands sooner, which is useful when obstacles come in quick succession, and holding gives a full jump for wide groups of cacti. Pressing down while airborne cuts the jump short and drops you straight to the ground. On a keyboard, Space, the up arrow and W all jump, the down arrow and S duck, P or Esc pauses and Enter restarts after a crash; on a touch screen, tap the field or use the on-screen buttons.
Your best score is saved in your browser’s local storage, so it is still there the next time you open the page on the same device and browser. A few tips for higher scores: jump a little earlier as the speed climbs, use short hops for single small cacti so you are back on the ground sooner, and keep a finger ready on duck once pterosaurs start appearing at 250 points.
