About these resize tools
Resizing is the most effective way to reduce a file, because size follows pixel count: halving the width and height removes about three quarters of the data before compression begins. It is also a requirement in its own right whenever a platform, print shop or content system expects specific dimensions.
Alongside the general resizer there is a page for each platform size — profile pictures, banners, thumbnails, story frames. Those pages carry the framing rules that go with the dimensions: which parts of a banner the interface covers, where a circular crop cuts, and how small the image will actually be displayed. The dimensions are the easy half of the problem.
