About these pdf tools
PDF work divides into two kinds. Structural changes — merging, splitting, reordering, rotating, deleting pages — rearrange the document without touching its contents, so nothing is lost. Compression is the other kind: reaching a specific file size in a browser means re-rendering pages as images, which shrinks the file and costs you selectable text.
The tools here are explicit about which kind you are using, and the size-target tools report the smallest size they actually achieved rather than silently returning something over your limit. Documents are opened and processed inside your browser, which matters when the file is a contract, a bank statement or an identity document.
