Frequently asked questions
- Why does rotating in my PDF reader not stick?
- Most readers, including Chrome’s built-in viewer, rotate the page only for the current session — it is a view setting, not a change to the file. Close the tab and the page is sideways again. This tool writes the rotation into the PDF itself, so every reader, printer and email recipient sees it the right way up.
- Can I rotate just one page instead of all of them?
- Yes. Type the page numbers into the Pages box using commas and ranges — 2 for a single page, 1-4 for a run, or 1-3, 7, 10- to mix them. An open-ended range like 10- means page 10 to the end. Leave the box empty and every page is rotated.
- What if different pages need different rotations?
- Run the tool twice. Rotate the first set of pages, download the result, then drop that file back in and rotate the other pages. Because rotation is added to whatever the page already had, the pages you fixed the first time are left alone the second time.
- Will rotating reduce the quality of my PDF?
- No. Rotation only changes a number in the page’s metadata that tells readers which way to display it. The text, images and vectors inside the file are untouched, so the document stays exactly as sharp as it was and file size barely moves.
- Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
- No. Your browser reads the file, edits the rotation and builds the new PDF entirely on your device. Nothing is transmitted, which matters because PDFs are often contracts, invoices, medical records and scans you should not be handing to a stranger’s server.
About this tool
Scanned documents come out sideways surprisingly often — the sheet went into the feeder the wrong way, or the scanner guessed the orientation and got it wrong. This tool fixes that permanently: pick 90° right, 180° or 90° left, choose all pages or a specific range, and download a PDF that opens the right way up everywhere.
The important difference from the rotate button in your PDF reader is that this change is saved. Readers treat their own rotate control as a temporary view setting, so the file on disk never changes and the problem returns for the next person who opens it. Here the rotation is written into each page’s own properties, so it travels with the document — through email, printing, uploading to a portal, or merging into a larger file.
Rotation is applied relative to what the page already had, which makes mixed documents easy to fix. A file where pages 1–3 are upright and pages 4–6 are sideways takes two quick passes: rotate 4-6 by 90°, download, then you are done. Nothing is re-encoded in either pass, so you can run it as many times as you need without the document degrading.
Everything happens inside your browser using the PDF’s own structure, so quality is untouched and the file never leaves your device. That is worth caring about for the documents people usually need to rotate — scanned contracts, ID copies, bank statements, medical results and signed forms are exactly the files you should not be uploading to an unknown server just to turn a page around.
