- Which unit systems are supported?
- Each category mixes metric and imperial or US units, so you can convert meters to feet, kilograms to pounds, liters to gallons, square meters to acres, km/h to mph and more. The Data category covers both decimal units (KB, MB, GB) and binary units (KiB, MiB, GiB).
- How accurate are the conversions?
- All factor-based conversions use the exact internationally defined ratios, for example 1 inch = 25.4 mm and 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg. Temperature uses the standard Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin formulas rather than a simple multiplier, so results are exact up to normal floating-point precision.
- Is anything sent to a server?
- No. Every conversion is plain arithmetic performed locally in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type is transmitted anywhere, and the tool keeps working even if you go offline after the page has loaded.
- What is the difference between MB and MiB?
- MB (megabyte) is a decimal unit equal to 1,000,000 bytes, while MiB (mebibyte) is a binary unit equal to 1,048,576 bytes — about 4.9% larger. Storage makers advertise in decimal units and operating systems often report in binary ones, which is why a “500 GB” drive shows up as roughly 465 GiB.
- How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
- Multiply by 9/5 and add 32: 20 °C is 20 × 1.8 + 32 = 68 °F. Going the other way, subtract 32 and divide by 1.8. The converter applies these formulas exactly, including for Kelvin, where 0 °C equals 273.15 K — temperature scales have offset zero points, so a simple ratio would give wrong answers.

Accuracy comes from using the exact defined relationships between units rather than rounded shortcuts. An inch is exactly 25.4 millimeters, a pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms, and a US gallon is exactly 3.785411784 liters — the converter stores these official factors and multiplies through them. Temperature is treated specially, since Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin differ by offsets as well as scale, and the proper formulas are applied. Every calculation happens locally in your browser with JavaScript; nothing you enter is sent to a server, and the tool works offline once loaded.

Second, mind significant figures — a conversion is only as precise as the number you type in, so a measurement taken to the nearest centimeter should not be quoted to six decimal places of inches afterwards.
