Is my ZIP uploaded to your server?
No. The archive is opened by code running in your browser, and file downloads are created from the extracted bytes on your device. There is no upload step. The page does not save the archive after you leave or reload.
Can I open password-protected ZIP, RAR or 7z files?
No. This tool supports standard, unencrypted ZIP archives using stored or Deflate compression. Password-protected archives and RAR or 7z files need a desktop archive application. Renaming a file to .zip does not convert its format.
Why are there size limits?
Extraction uses your device's memory, which is particularly limited on phones. The archive may be at most 50 MB, with at most 1,000 files, 25 MB per extracted file and 100 MB of extracted data in total. Larger archives should be opened with a desktop utility.
Are folders preserved when I download a file?
The list shows each file's full path inside the archive, so you can distinguish folders. An individual browser download uses only the final file name, because the browser controls the destination folder. Files with the same name in different folders should be renamed when you save them.
Can I inspect HTML or script files safely as text?
Preview text displays the first 20 KB as plain text. It does not execute HTML or JavaScript. Download returns the complete original file bytes. For formats without a text preview, use Download and open the file with the appropriate application.
About this tool
An archive often contains one file you need and dozens you do not. This ZIP extractor shows the contents as a searchable list, including nested folder paths, so you can locate a document, an exported table or a configuration file without uploading the whole archive to another service.
The archive size and extracted size are shown separately. A small ZIP can expand into much more data, especially when it contains repetitive text. The extraction limits account for both figures; a 20 MB archive can still exceed the tool's limit if its contents expand beyond 100 MB.
Text previews are available for common documents and code formats, including TXT, CSV, JSON, Markdown, XML and HTML. They show plain text, with a notice if the preview is truncated. Previewing a large file does not shorten its download: the Download button always uses the complete extracted bytes.
This is intended for quick inspection and individual-file downloads. It does not repair damaged archives, recover passwords, extract nested ZIP files automatically or write a complete folder tree to your disk. Those tasks are better handled by a dedicated archive application.
