- Will the downloaded image keep its original quality?
- Yes. The text is drawn onto the photo at its full original resolution, not at the preview size. PNG downloads are lossless; JPG downloads use a high quality setting that is visually indistinguishable for photos.
- Can I add more than one line of text?
- Yes. Press Enter in the text box to start a new line and the lines are centered as a block that you can drag as one unit. If you need separate captions in different places, download the image and run it through the tool again with the next caption.
- What image formats can I use?
- Any format your browser can display works as input, which covers JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and in most browsers AVIF. The output is always PNG or JPG regardless of the input, so an animated GIF is captured as a single still frame.
- Can I use this to make memes or watermark my photos?
- Yes, both are common uses. The bold and outline settings produce the classic high-contrast meme look that stays readable on any background. For a watermark, choose a smaller size and a color close to the image, place the text near a corner, and download as PNG to keep it crisp.

The photo is read into a canvas element in your browser, the text is drawn onto that canvas with the standard 2D drawing API, and the download is generated from it on your device. No file is uploaded, no account is required, and there is no server that could log or retain your pictures — a practical difference when the image contains people, documents, or anything else you’d rather keep private.
Quality is preserved because the text is rendered at the photo’s native resolution rather than the on-screen preview size. A caption that looks small on a scaled-down preview of a 4000-pixel-wide photo is drawn proportionally on the real pixels, so the export is print-ready. The drag position maps to the same coordinates, meaning what you see is exactly what you download.
A few practical tips: use the outline option whenever the background is busy — a dark outline around light text stays legible over almost anything.
