- What does the “normalize sizes” option do?
- When it is on, every image is scaled to the same height for a horizontal merge, or the same width for a vertical one, so the pictures line up in a clean strip with no ragged edges. The target is the largest image’s size, and proportions are preserved. Turn it off to keep every image at its exact original pixel size and use the alignment control instead.
- How is this different from a collage maker?
- A collage maker arranges photos into grid templates with rows and columns. This tool does one thing: it joins images in a single straight row or column, which is what you want for before/after comparisons, stitched screenshots, and photo strips. There are no templates to fight with — order, spacing, and background are the only layout decisions.
- Which formats can I combine, and can I mix them?
- Any format your browser can display works — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and usually AVIF — and you can freely mix them in one merge. The output is a single PNG or JPG regardless of the inputs. Animated GIFs contribute only their first frame, since the result is a still image.
- Is there a limit to how many images or how large the result can be?
- You can add as many images as you like, but browsers cap canvas dimensions at roughly 16,000 pixels per side. Merging many high-resolution photos in one row can hit that limit, in which case the export may fail or come out blank. If that happens, resize the sources first or split the merge into two passes.

Everything happens client-side. The images are drawn onto an HTML canvas by your own browser, the merged file is encoded on your device, and no server ever receives a byte of your photos. By default the tool normalizes sizes — scaling each image proportionally to a common height for horizontal merges or a common width for vertical ones — so mixed-resolution sources still produce a tidy, evenly edged strip. Disable normalization to keep original pixel dimensions and align the images to the start, center, or end of the strip instead.
