How does the celebration link work?
Your message, your name and the confetti style are compressed and stored in the link itself, after the # sign. Nothing is saved on a server and browsers don’t send that part of an address to the website. The flip side is that anyone who has the link can read the message, so don’t put anything private in it. Messages can be up to 200 characters, and emoji work.
Why is there no sound at first?
Browsers only let a page play sound after you interact with it, so the pop is heard from your first tap or click. A celebration link fires its first confetti silently for the same reason; tap the screen for the pop. The sound is generated on the fly from a short burst of filtered noise and a falling tone, so no audio files are downloaded. Use the Sound button to mute it.
Can I use it full screen on a TV or at a party?
Yes. Full screen fills the display, and Party mode keeps confetti falling with a cannon from alternating corners every couple of seconds. Press Space to fire both cannons, P for party mode and Esc to leave. On iPhones, where web pages can’t enter full screen, the confetti still fills the whole browser window.
What happens if my device is set to reduce motion?
The confetti is shown as a still scatter of pieces instead of flying across the screen, and Party mode stays off. That respects the accessibility setting in your system. If you’d like the animation anyway, press Animate anyway under the buttons; the choice lasts until you leave the page.
Which emoji can I use as confetti?
Any emoji your device can show, including flags and emoji with skin tones. Type or paste them into the emoji box, or pick a ready-made set; up to eight different emoji are used, and ordinary letters are ignored. Emoji look slightly different on Apple, Android and Windows devices, because each system draws them in its own style.
Will lots of confetti slow down my phone?
The animation only runs while confetti is on screen and stops by itself when the last piece has fallen. The number of pieces on screen is capped, so pressing the cannon button many times won’t freeze a slow device, and a background tab doesn’t pile up work while it is hidden.

This confetti cannon is a quick way to add a burst of celebration to a screen: a birthday on a video call, a goal hit in the office, a classroom reward or a New Year’s party on the TV. Tap anywhere and a spray of paper confetti pops out from that spot, flutters as it falls and fades away, with a short popper sound made in your browser.
The confetti moves with simple physics. Each piece is thrown with its own speed and spin, slowed by air resistance and pulled down by gravity, and flat pieces tumble and sway as they fall, showing a darker back side as they flip. Round dots drop faster than paper squares, and streamers curl. The motion is scaled to the size of your screen, so it looks the same on a phone and on a big display.
You can choose from six colour sets, including gold and silver for weddings and anniversaries and saffron and magenta for festivals, switch shapes on and off, and add emoji confetti. Party mode keeps it going for as long as you like, and the Celebration link turns a short message into a link that opens full screen with confetti — no sign-up, and nothing stored on a server.
