Frequently asked questions
How many questions does the generator have?
420, all written for this page: 70 in each of six categories — icebreakers, deep questions, funny questions, questions for kids, conversation starters and team meeting questions. The category buttons show how many questions each one holds.
Is it really random, and can questions repeat?
The questions in your selected categories are shuffled with your browser’s crypto.getRandomValues, which gives every order an equal chance, and are then dealt one by one. No question repeats until the deck is used up; after that it reshuffles automatically, and the last question shown is never the first of the next round.
Which category should I use for a work meeting?
Team meetings has questions made for check-ins and retrospectives, such as “What is one win, big or small, from your week?” Icebreakers suits new groups and onboarding, while Conversation starters works well for networking and one-to-ones. Every category is safe for work, so you can mix them.
Are the kids questions suitable for a classroom?
Yes. The Kids category is written for primary-school children: pets, superpowers, favorite foods, imaginary inventions and school. The other categories contain nothing inappropriate either, but some deep and team questions assume adult experience.
Can I print or share a list of questions?
Yes. Open “Make a list”, choose how many questions you want and press Make list. You can copy the numbered list, share it where your browser supports sharing, or press Print list to print a clean sheet or save it as a PDF from the print dialog.
Are my favorites stored anywhere?
Only in your browser’s local storage, so they are still there when you come back on the same device. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no account, and Clear favorites removes them.
About this tool
This random question generator deals from 420 original questions split evenly across six categories. Icebreakers are light, easy questions for new groups; Deep questions invite reflection on values, change and gratitude; Funny questions are about talking pets and villainous kitchen appliances; Kids questions suit classrooms and family dinners; Conversation starters help at networking events and dinners; and Team meetings questions are written for stand-ups, check-ins and retrospectives.
Instead of picking a random question each time, the tool shuffles your chosen categories into a deck and deals from it, so you never get the same question twice in one session until every question has been used. The shuffle uses the Web Crypto API rather than Math.random. When the deck runs out, it reshuffles itself, and switching categories puts questions you have already seen at the back.
Projector mode shows the question in large type on a dark background and requests fullscreen, which works well on a shared screen in a meeting room or classroom. The arrow keys move forward and back, so whoever is hosting can keep the conversation going without touching the mouse.
Need questions in advance? The list builder deals 5, 10, 20, 50 or all matching questions at once for copying into an agenda, sharing to a chat or printing through your browser. Favorites are saved in your browser so you can keep a personal shortlist for the next meeting or family dinner. Everything runs on your device — no sign-up and no tracking of which questions you use.
