How does it turn my name into a signature?
Your name is drawn onto a canvas with script and handwriting fonts installed on your device, in eight combinations of typeface, weight and slant. The thickness control adds a soft ink spread around the strokes so they look pen-drawn rather than typed, and the download redraws your chosen style at high resolution with a transparent background.
Why do the styles look different on my phone and my computer?
The styles use fonts that come with your operating system, and each system ships different ones — Macs, iPhones and iPads include Snell Roundhand, Windows includes Segoe Script and Segoe Print, and Android substitutes its own cursive face. The style names stay the same, but the letter shapes follow what your device has. Generate the final PNG on the device whose look you like; the downloaded image then looks the same everywhere.
Which style and settings look most like a real signature?
Real signatures lean forward and vary in stroke weight, so start with one of the slanted styles and a slant between 8 and 15. A thickness of 1 to 1.5 looks like a ballpoint pen; 2 to 3 looks like a felt-tip or fountain pen. Shorter input usually looks more authentic — “A. Morgan” or “Alex M.” reads more like a signature than a long full name in perfect script.
How do I add the signature to a PDF or Word document?
Download the PNG, then insert it as an image. In Word or Google Docs use Insert → Image and drag it onto the signature line. In most PDF editors, including Adobe Acrobat’s Fill & Sign and macOS Preview, you can add an image or signature from a file. Because the background is transparent, it sits on the line without a white box, and at 1440 × 480 pixels it stays sharp when resized.
Is a typed or image signature legally valid?
In many places — including under the US ESIGN Act and the EU eIDAS regulation — an electronic signature, including a typed name or a signature image, can be legally binding when the parties intend to sign. Some documents, such as certain wills, property deeds and notarised papers, have stricter requirements. For contracts where identity must be proven, use an e-signature service that records who signed and when.
Should I choose black or blue ink?
Blue is the traditional choice for signed paper documents because it shows at a glance that a copy was signed by hand rather than photocopied. Black reproduces best when a document will be scanned, faxed or photocopied later, and it is the safer default for email footers. The download is a 1440 × 480 pixel PNG with a transparent background, larger than the on-screen preview, so it stays crisp when scaled into a document or printed. Because only the ink is opaque, it can be placed on white paper, a colored letterhead, a scanned form or a dark website theme without a box around it. The file is created on your device; your name is not uploaded.
Typical uses: signing PDFs and forms that allow an image signature, email and newsletter footers, invoice and quote templates, certificates, a stylized name mark on a portfolio or photography watermark, and the sign-off on a digital greeting card.
