Frequently asked questions
Is a signature made here legally valid?
It can be, but that depends on where you are, what you are signing and what the other party accepts — this is general information, not legal advice. In the US, the ESIGN Act and state UETA laws say a signature cannot be denied legal effect just because it is electronic, provided the parties agree to do business electronically and the signer intends to sign. In the EU, eIDAS says an electronic signature cannot be refused as evidence only because it is electronic; an image like this counts as a simple electronic signature, not the advanced or qualified kind some processes require. Wills, deeds, notarised and some court or government documents often need a handwritten or certified signature. What usually matters is proof that you intended to sign, which an image alone does not provide.
Is my name or signature uploaded anywhere?
No. The letters are drawn from font files downloaded from this site, and your drawing, the PNG and the SVG are all made in your browser. Nothing you type or draw is sent to a server, and closing the tab erases it.
How does the drawn signature look like real ink?
Each stroke is smoothed with curves through the points your pointer reports, so a shaky mouse line becomes a flowing one. The line width follows your speed: slow parts are fuller and quick flicks get thinner, the way a pen behaves. With a pressure-sensitive stylus, such as an Apple Pencil or a Windows pen, the width follows how hard you press instead. The same smoothed outline is used on screen and in both downloads.
Which fonts are included, and can I use the signature commercially?
Fourteen script fonts: Great Vibes, Mr Dafoe, Herr Von Muellerhoff, Mrs Saint Delafield, Alex Brush, Allura, Sacramento, Parisienne, Pinyon Script, Ms Madi, Monsieur La Doulaise, Dancing Script, La Belle Aurore and Cedarville Cursive. All are published under the SIL Open Font License, which allows images and documents made with them to be used for any purpose, including commercial ones. A few fonts lack some accented letters; the tool then shows the plain letter and tells you which characters were affected.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG works almost everywhere — Word, Google Docs, PDF editors, email signatures — and 2× or 4× keeps it sharp when resized. SVG is a vector file: the letters are saved as outlines, so it needs no font installed, stays crisp at any size and suits websites, design tools and printing. Both have a transparent background, so there is no white box around the signature.
How do I put the signature on a PDF?

About this tool
This signature generator gives you two ways to make a signature. Type your name and it appears in fourteen script fonts side by side, from the flowing capitals of Great Vibes and Allura to the quick, pen-like Mr Dafoe and Herr Von Muellerhoff and the casual handwriting of La Belle Aurore. Pick one, then set the slant to lean the letters forward or back, the weight to thicken the strokes like a broader pen, and the size of the download. Or switch to Draw it and sign with a mouse, trackpad, finger or stylus.
Drawn signatures are smoothed and given ink-like strokes. Your pointer’s samples are joined with curves instead of straight segments, and each point gets a width from the speed of the pen — slower movement gives a fuller line, fast movement a thinner one — or from the pressure of a stylus that reports it. The strokes are turned into filled outlines, so what you see on the pad is exactly what goes into the PNG and the SVG.
Typed signatures are drawn from the font outlines themselves rather than with installed fonts, so they look the same on every device and the SVG contains plain vector shapes that open in any browser, Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma or Word. Both downloads have a transparent background and are trimmed close to the signature, and the PNG can be saved at 1×, 2× or 4× for a crisp result on high-resolution screens and in print.
Use the result wherever a signature image is accepted: signing PDFs and forms, email footers, invoices and letters, certificates, or a name mark for artwork and photos. Keep in mind that an image of a signature proves little on its own about who placed it, so formal agreements may need a signing service with identity checks. Everything happens in your browser — nothing you type or draw leaves your device.
