How are the points worked out?
Each word’s score is the sum of its letter-tile values from the standard English tile set: 1 point for A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T and R; 2 for D and G; 3 for B, C, M and P; 4 for F, H, V, W and Y; 5 for K; 8 for J and X; 10 for Q and Z. Letters played with a blank score 0. Double- and triple-letter or word squares depend on where you play, so they aren’t included.
What does “all 7 tiles” mean?
When you enter exactly seven rack letters, words that use all seven are marked. Most crossword-style tile games award a bonus, commonly 50 points, for playing your whole rack in one turn, so these are worth looking for even when their face value is low.
Which words count as valid?
Words come from ENABLE2K, a public-domain list of about 173,000 English words used by many word games, limited to 2–15 letters and with slurs and profanity removed. Official tournament dictionaries differ slightly from it and from each other, so check a close call against the dictionary your game or club uses.
How do board letters work?
Board letters are tiles already on the board that your word will pass through. Enter them in the order they appear; results must contain that exact run of letters, and your rack supplies the rest. Leave the box empty to see words made from your rack alone.
Is my rack sent to a server?
No. The tool downloads the word lists for the lengths it needs, then finds and scores every word in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored.
About this tool
This word finder lists every word you can spell from the tiles on your rack and scores each one with the standard English letter-tile values, so you can see at a glance which play is worth the most. It respects tile counts — one S on your rack means at most one S in a word — and treats ? as a blank that can stand for any letter but scores nothing.
Sorting by points puts the highest-scoring words first, with longer words breaking ties; Longest groups words by length, which helps when you are hunting for a play that uses all seven tiles; A–Z gives a plain alphabetical list. Board letters let you build through tiles already on the board, and the starts-with and ends-with filters help fit a word against an existing letter or hook.
The scores are face values — the sum of the tiles before any bonus squares — because premium squares depend on exactly where the word is placed. Use them to compare options quickly, then work out the board bonus for the one or two best candidates. The tool helps with crossword-style tile games and is also handy for word study, since it shows every valid word hidden in a set of letters.
Words come from ENABLE2K, a word list its authors placed in the public domain, with slurs and profanity removed; tile values follow the standard English set. The list is downloaded in pieces by word length only when a search needs them, and all searching and scoring runs locally in your browser. Licence details for the data are at /data/words/LICENSE.txt.
