Is the yes or no wheel fair?
Yes. With equal weights, Yes and No each have exactly a 50% chance, or one third each with Maybe added. The result comes from your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), with rejection sampling to avoid bias. It is chosen the moment you spin, and the animation simply turns the wheel to that slice.
How do weighted odds work?
Each answer gets a weight from 1 to 10, and its chance is its weight divided by the total. For example, Yes 3 and No 1 gives Yes 75% and No 25%. The wheel shows this with slice counts: in that example there are three Yes slices for every No slice, all the same size. What you see on the wheel therefore matches the real odds.
Can the wheel really answer my question?
No. The wheel is pure chance and knows nothing about you or your question. It is great for settling small choices, breaking a tie or adding suspense to a game. Please don’t use it for decisions about health, money, safety or other people.
Why do the same answers sometimes come up several times in a row?
That is normal for real randomness. Every spin is independent, so with a 50/50 wheel, three Yes answers in a row happen about one time in eight. The wheel has no memory and does not try to even things out. Over many spins, the history count will get close to the chances shown.
Can I turn off the sound?
Yes. Untick Sound to stop the ticks as the pointer passes each slice and the short chime at the end. Sound is generated in your browser with the Web Audio API, so no audio files are downloaded. If your device prefers reduced motion, the spin is also shortened.
Is my question saved or sent anywhere?
No. Your question, answers and history stay on this page in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and it is all cleared when you close or reload the tab.
About this tool
The yes or no wheel is a quick way to settle a small decision. Type a question, or just think of one, and spin. The wheel turns with a satisfying tick past every slice and stops on YES or NO in big letters. Add a Maybe slice when you want a third option, and your last 20 results are kept in a history list with a running count, so a group can play best of five.
The answer is fair and decided before the animation starts. The tool picks a slice with crypto.getRandomValues, the secure random generator browsers use for encryption, and then turns the wheel to land on it. All slices are the same size, so the odds you see are the real odds: half Yes and half No by default, or one third each with Maybe.
Weighted odds let you tilt the result. If you would like a nudge toward Yes, set Yes to 2 and No to 1 and the wheel will show twice as many Yes slices, with the exact percentage printed below. This is useful for games and classroom activities, for example when a Yes means a bonus question and should come up less often.
Keep it light. The wheel is for choosing a restaurant, deciding who goes first, answering a silly question on a stream or adding drama to a party game. It cannot know anything about your situation, so it should never be the judge of an important life, health or money decision.
