How does the converter pick an emoji for a word?
It looks each word up in a built-in dictionary of more than 1,300 everyday English words and short phrases, each paired with one emoji. It also recognises plurals and possessives (cats, dog’s) and the -ed and -ing forms of verbs (danced, laughing), and it checks phrases such as ice cream, hot dog and happy birthday before single words, so they become one emoji instead of two.
Why wasn’t a word turned into an emoji?
Either it is not in the dictionary or it was left out on purpose. Words with several common meanings, such as watch, play, light, left and right, are skipped because the wrong emoji would change what you meant. Short everyday words like the, and or you are never converted. The dictionary is English only, so words in other languages pass through unchanged.
What is the difference between the three modes?
Replace words turns I love pizza into I ❤️ 🍕. Add emoji after words keeps every word and adds the emoji after it, giving I love ❤️ pizza 🍕, which is easier to read. Emoji only drops the text and keeps just the emoji, one line for each line you typed, which is handy for emoji puzzles and short reactions.
Is it safe for kids and school use?
Yes. The dictionary was written for this tool and is family friendly on purpose: it has no weapons, drugs, alcohol or rude meanings, and it never adds an emoji to a word that is not in its list. In the Replace and Add modes, any emoji you type yourself stay exactly where you put them.
Will the emoji show up on other phones?
Yes. Every emoji the dictionary uses was added to Unicode in Emoji 14.0 (2021) or earlier, so current iPhones, Android phones, Windows and Mac computers all display them. Each platform draws its own designs, so the pictures look slightly different on the receiver’s device, but the meaning stays the same.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The dictionary is part of the page and the conversion runs in your browser as you type. Nothing you enter is uploaded, stored or logged.
About this tool
This converter turns ordinary sentences into emoji text. Type a message and every word it recognises becomes a matching emoji, so love becomes ❤️, pizza becomes 🍕, happy becomes 😊 and birthday becomes 🎂. The result updates as you type and can be copied with one click into WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, a text message or anywhere else that accepts emoji.
The word list is our own, covering feelings, people, animals, food and drink, weather and nature, places and travel, sports and games, school and work, and holidays such as Christmas, Halloween, Easter and Diwali. It understands plurals and the usual verb endings, so puppies, laughing and cooked all match, and it recognises common phrases like good morning, thank you, ice cream and happy birthday as a single idea. Every word that was converted is listed under the result with how many times it appeared.
Three modes cover the usual uses. Replace words gives the classic emoji translation that is fun to decode. Add emoji after words keeps your message readable while decorating it, which suits captions and greetings. Emoji only strips everything else away, for emoji riddles, reactions or a quick summary of a message.
Words with more than one common meaning are deliberately left alone, because a wrong emoji can change what a message says, and very short words like the and and are never converted. If a word you expected did not change, try a simpler synonym. The whole tool runs in your browser, so nothing you type leaves your device.
