3D Text Generator
Type a word, pick a material and drag it around in 3D — then download it as a transparent PNG or an animated spinning GIF.
Drag the text to rotate it · yaw -22° · tilt 14°
Animated GIF
GIF transparency is on/off per pixel, so soft edges get a hard outline on a transparent GIF — pick a background color that matches where the GIF will be shown for the smoothest edges.
Rendered in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Fonts: Bungee and Rubik Bubbles (SIL Open Font License).

Frequently asked questions
How is the 3D effect made?
The text is drawn once as a flat mask, then stacked as many thin copies, each placed at its own depth with the rotation and perspective of a real 3D camera — the same layered-extrusion idea used for CSS 3D text, done on a canvas. Lighting is worked out per pixel: the front face gets a bevel normal from a blurred copy of the letters, and each side pixel gets the direction of the outline, so turning the text moves the highlights. It is not a polygon model, so extremely edge-on views can show faint banding.
Can I download 3D text with a transparent background?
Yes. Transparent is on by default: the PNG contains only the letters, their sides and, for neon, the glow, over real transparency, cropped tight with a small margin. PNG 2x renders the text again at double resolution rather than enlarging the image. Animated GIFs can be transparent too, but GIF transparency is all-or-nothing per pixel, so soft edges and neon glow look cleaner over a background colour that matches where the GIF will be used.
What do the Gold, Chrome, Neon and Plastic materials do?
Gold and Chrome are reflective: the front reflects a simple sky-and-ground environment, which gives chrome its classic 80s horizon line and gold its bright-to-amber bands, plus a sharp highlight from the light. Neon draws a glowing tube with a pale core and a coloured halo, on dark sides. Plastic is a matte colour with a soft highlight. Neon and Plastic have a colour picker; the metals have fixed colours.
How big is the animated GIF?
It depends on the width, frame count and material. A 480-pixel-wide spin of a short word with 36 frames is typically a few hundred kilobytes to about a megabyte; neon glow and chrome gradients use more colours and make files bigger. To shrink a GIF, lower the width, use fewer frames or choose Swing, which keeps the text front-on. Each frame uses up to 256 colours.
Why does the back of the text look mirrored in a full spin?
Because it is the back: after 90° of rotation you see the rear of the extruded letters, which reads right-to-left, just as it would with real 3D letters. If you want a GIF that always stays readable, choose Swing ±35° instead of Full 360° spin.
Which fonts can I use?
Bungee, a bold block display face, and Rubik Bubbles, a rounded balloon face — both released under the SIL Open Font License and loaded from this site — plus Sans Black and Serif Bold, which use fonts already on your device. Thick, heavy letters extrude best; thin serif strokes can look narrow when turned sideways.
About this tool
This 3D text generator turns a word into extruded lettering you can rotate by hand. It renders on a canvas in your browser: the text is rasterised once, then stacked in dozens of shaded layers at increasing depth, each projected with the yaw, tilt and perspective you set. Because every layer is placed with a real 3D rotation rather than a fixed offset, you can turn the text through a full circle and see the sides, the tilt and even the mirrored back.
Four materials are built in. Gold and Chrome use environment reflection — the front of each letter reflects a sky above and ground below, and the bevel on the edges catches the light — for the shiny look of logo lettering and 80s titles. Neon combines a white-hot core, a coloured tube and a soft glow, and looks best on a dark background. Plastic is a solid colour with diffuse shading and a soft highlight. Depth runs from 4% to 80% of the letter height, and Bevel sets how rounded the front edges are.
Exports are cropped to the text. Download PNG saves the current view with a transparent background or your colour; PNG 2x re-renders at double resolution for print, thumbnails and slides. The animated GIF renders every frame from scratch — a full 360° spin or a gentle ±35° swing — at about 320 to 800 pixels wide, with 12 to 72 frames and a loop of 1 to 8 seconds; 36 frames over 3 seconds gives a smooth 12 frames per second.
Some practical tips: short words in heavy fonts look strongest, since thin strokes lose their front face when turned; a little perspective (30–50%) makes the text feel solid; and for YouTube thumbnails or stream overlays, keep Transparent on and place the PNG in your editor. Nothing is uploaded, and the two web fonts are open-licensed (SIL OFL 1.1).
