Where do the sounds come from? Can I use them in my videos?
Every built-in sound is synthesised in your browser from oscillators, noise, filters and envelopes when you first press it — there are no audio files, and none of the effects is copied from a film, TV show or meme recording. They are original approximations: the air horn is a chord of detuned sawtooth waves, the sad trombone is four falling brass-like notes through a wah-like filter, and the fart is a jittery low pulse through a wobbling filter. You are welcome to use what you record from this page in your own videos, streams and presentations.
How do I play the soundboard into Discord, Zoom or a game chat?
The soundboard plays through your speakers or headphones, not directly into a call. The simplest way is to play it out loud on speakers so your microphone picks it up, although noise suppression in Discord, Zoom and Teams may filter some effects out. For clean sound, install a virtual audio cable (for example VB-Audio Cable on Windows or BlackHole on macOS), send the browser's output to it and choose it as the microphone in the call app.
Are my recordings uploaded?
No. Recording happens in your browser with the MediaRecorder API, and your pads are stored in this browser's IndexedDB storage on your device. Nothing is sent to a server. Clearing site data or using a private window removes them, and they do not follow you to other browsers or devices.
Why do the keyboard letters not match my keyboard layout?
Shortcuts follow the position of the keys, not the letter printed on them, so the board plays the same way on QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ and other layouts. The labels show the QWERTY letter; on another layout press the key in the same place — for example, on an AZERTY keyboard the A key plays the pad marked Q.
Why is there no sound on my phone?
Browsers only allow sound after you tap the page, so the first tap starts the audio. On an iPhone or iPad, check the volume buttons; recent versions of Safari let this page play with the Ring/Silent switch on silent, but older ones mute web audio in silent mode. The very first press can take a fraction of a second while that sound is synthesised; the rest are then prepared in the background.
How loud are the sounds, and are they levelled?
Each built-in effect is scaled so that its loudest 300 milliseconds reach about the same level, about 15 dB below full scale, unless that would push its peak past −1 dBFS. Your own recordings are trimmed and raised or lowered so their peaks sit near −1 dBFS, boosted by no more than 18 dB. A limiter after the volume control keeps several pads playing at once from distorting.

This soundboard has 51 built-in effects in five groups. Reactions covers the classics for a punchline or a fail: air horn, ba-dum-tss, drum roll, applause, crickets, sad trombone, ta-da, dun dun duuun, a victory fanfare, a record scratch and two fart sounds. Game show & alerts has a wrong-answer buzzer, correct-answer chime, error beep, ding, doorbell, 3-2-1-go countdown, censor bleep, alarm clock, cash register, old phone ring and siren. Cartoon, Retro game and Everyday & instruments add boings, whooshes, slide whistles, a falling bomb, glass breaking, 8-bit coins and lasers, a car horn, bike bell, referee whistle, typewriter, heartbeat, gong and cowbell.
Every effect is generated in your browser rather than downloaded. Tones come from sine, square, sawtooth and triangle oscillators with anti-aliased edges; hits, claps and crashes are shaped noise; bells are sums of decaying partials at the inharmonic ratios real bells and bars have. The first pad you press is rendered on the spot, and the others are prepared a few at a time in the background, so the page loads fast and the board works offline once it is open.
The board is built for quick reactions. A mouse press plays on the button-down rather than the release, and every pad has a keyboard shortcut matched by key position, so it works on any layout. On a touch screen a pad plays when you lift your finger, so scrolling the page does not set sounds off. A bar along the bottom of each pad shows how much of the sound is left, and Esc stops everything at once.
My pads turns your microphone into a pad. Record up to 10 seconds, or add an audio file of up to 5 MB, and the soundboard trims the silence before and after the sound, levels it with the built-in effects and gives it a keyboard shortcut. You can keep up to 12 pads, rename them and delete them. They are stored only in this browser, so nothing you record leaves your device.
