Frequently asked questions
Which holidays are on the calendar?
US: the 11 federal holidays in 5 U.S.C. 6103 — New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. UK: the 8 bank holidays of England and Wales — New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, the Early May, Spring and Summer bank holidays, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Choose None for a plain calendar. Scotland and Northern Ireland have different bank holidays and are not covered.
What happens when a holiday falls on a weekend?
Both dates are shown. For US federal holidays, one on a Saturday is observed the Friday before and one on a Sunday the Monday after — so in 2027 Independence Day is observed on Monday, July 5, Christmas on Friday, December 24, and New Year’s Day 2028 on Friday, December 31, 2027. In England and Wales the next free weekday becomes a substitute bank holiday: Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2027 fall on a weekend, so Monday 27 and Tuesday 28 December are the days off.
How are the holiday dates worked out, and are they correct?
They are calculated from the rules — for example Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November and the Spring bank holiday the last Monday of May, and Easter is found with the Gregorian Easter calculation. The results were checked against the official lists: the OPM federal holiday schedules for 2025 to 2030 and every year published on gov.uk/bank-holidays, all matching. A one-off UK bank holiday proclaimed for a special event is not included.
What are the week numbers?
ISO 8601 week numbers: weeks run Monday to Sunday and week 1 is the week with the year’s first Thursday, so the first days of January can be in week 52 or 53 of the year before. On a calendar that starts weeks on Sunday, each row shows the ISO week of its Monday.
Which paper sizes and layouts can I print?
US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) or A4 (210 × 297 mm), portrait or landscape, with half-inch margins. The yearly calendar fits all twelve months and the holiday list on one page; the monthly calendar has one month per page with big day boxes and holiday names written in. Landscape suits a wall or desk calendar, portrait a planner or binder.
Is anything uploaded?
No. The calendar, the holidays and the PDF are all made in your browser; nothing is sent to a server, and the page keeps working offline once loaded.
About this tool
This printable calendar maker builds a clean PDF for any year from last year to three years ahead — including a 2026 calendar and a 2027 calendar printable today. The yearly layout puts all twelve months on a single page with the holidays listed underneath, handy for a fridge, noticeboard or planning a year of leave. The monthly layout gives each month its own page with large day boxes to write in, like a wall calendar you print yourself. Weeks can start on Sunday, as in the US, or on Monday, as in the UK and most of Europe.
Holidays are calculated from the rules that define them, not typed in by hand. US federal holidays follow 5 U.S.C. 6103: fixed dates such as July 4 and November 11, and Monday holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day (third Monday of January), Memorial Day (last Monday of May) and Labor Day (first Monday of September), plus Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. When a federal holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed on the Friday before, and on a Sunday the Monday after; the calendar marks both dates. UK bank holidays for England and Wales use the Easter date for Good Friday and Easter Monday, the first and last Mondays of May, the last Monday of August, and substitute days when Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day land on a weekend.
The dates were checked against the official sources: the US Office of Personnel Management federal holiday schedules (opm.gov) for 2025 through 2030, and the GOV.UK bank holidays list (gov.uk/bank-holidays) for every year it publishes, from 2019 to 2028 — the rules matched every regular holiday, with only past one-off holidays such as the 2023 coronation differing. Inauguration Day, a holiday only for federal staff in the Washington, DC, area, is not shown, and neither are state holidays.
Options include ISO 8601 week numbers beside each week, ruled lines for notes, US Letter or A4 paper in portrait or landscape, and a choice of colours or an ink-saving black-and-white style. The on-screen preview is drawn from the same layout as the PDF, so what you see is what prints. The PDF uses real Helvetica text and vector lines rather than an image, so it prints crisply and stays small, and it is created entirely in your browser.
