Is Microsoft Copilot down right now?

Microsoft Copilot is Microsoft’s consumer AI assistant, available at copilot.microsoft.com, in the Copilot app for Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, and inside Microsoft Edge. It is separate from Microsoft 365 Copilot, the paid business product that works inside Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams with a work or school account.

If Microsoft Copilot isn’t working for you

When the live checks above look normal, the problem is usually on your side or limited to one feature. These are the fixes that help most often with Microsoft Copilot:

  1. Check you’re signed in with the right account

    On the web and on mobile, Copilot accepts a personal Microsoft account, an Apple ID or a Google account. If you signed up with Google or Apple, use the matching “Continue with” button — otherwise you may land in an empty account with no chat history.

  2. Run the Copilot connectivity troubleshooter (Windows)

    Open the Get Help app on Windows, search for “Copilot connectivity troubleshooter” and follow the steps. It checks for firewall rules and other things that stop Copilot from connecting, then suggests fixes.

  3. Clear site data for copilot.microsoft.com

    If the web version loads a blank page or keeps signing you out, clear cookies and cached data for copilot.microsoft.com and microsoft.com, or try an InPrivate/Incognito window. Extensions that block scripts or third-party cookies can also stop sign-in from finishing.

  4. Restart or update the app

    Close the Copilot app completely and open it again. On Windows, check for updates in the Microsoft Store; on iOS or Android, update from the App Store or Google Play. If only one device has the problem, the fault is more likely local than an outage.

  5. Try another network or turn off your VPN

    Workplace and school networks sometimes block Copilot, and VPNs or proxies can trigger extra checks or region limits. Switch to mobile data or another Wi-Fi network to see whether the network is the cause.

Is Microsoft Copilot the same as Microsoft 365 Copilot?

No. Microsoft Copilot is the consumer assistant at copilot.microsoft.com and in the Copilot app, and you sign in with a personal account. Microsoft 365 Copilot is a business product licensed through an organization; its service health appears in the Microsoft 365 admin center, which only your IT admin can see.

Where does Microsoft post Copilot outages?

On its service health page at status.cloud.microsoft, which covers Microsoft consumer products as well as Microsoft 365 and Azure. This page combines the official status page, our own reachability checks every minute and user reports.

Copilot works on my phone but not on my PC. Is it down?

Probably not. When one device works, the service is up, and the cause is usually sign-in, a browser extension, a firewall or VPN, or an out-of-date app on the other device. On Windows, the Copilot connectivity troubleshooter in Get Help is a good first step.

Why did my Copilot chat history disappear?

History is linked to the account you signed in with. If you signed in with a different Microsoft, Google or Apple account, or aren’t signed in at all, your earlier chats won’t appear. Sign out and back in with the account you used before.
