If Cursor isn’t working for you

When the live checks above look normal, the problem is usually on your side or limited to one feature. These are the fixes that help most often with Cursor:

  1. Cursor outage or model provider outage?

    Cursor’s status page lists the IDE, CLI, Cloud Agents, cursor.com and other parts separately. If only one third-party model fails, the problem is probably with that model’s provider, not Cursor — switch to another model to confirm.

  2. Run network diagnostics

    Open Cursor Settings > Network and run the diagnostics to test the connection to Cursor’s servers. On corporate networks, ask IT to allowlist Cursor’s domains, including *.cursor.sh.

  3. Proxy breaking streaming: use HTTP/1.1

    Some proxies and VPNs block HTTP/2 streaming, which makes chat and agent responses hang or fail. Switch the HTTP compatibility mode to HTTP/1.1 in Cursor’s network settings, and after connecting a VPN fully quit and restart Cursor rather than just reloading the window.

  4. Usage limit reached

    Paid plans include a monthly usage allowance. When you run out, Cursor shows a notice in the editor and you can turn on usage-based pricing or upgrade. Your dashboard shows what’s left and when it resets.

  5. Report with a Request ID

    If a request fails and the status page is green, copy the Request ID from the chat’s menu and post it on forum.cursor.com with steps to reproduce, your OS and your Cursor version.

Is Cursor down or is it my model?

Check whether every model fails or just one. If only one model fails, it’s usually that provider’s problem; if all of them fail, or the editor can’t connect, look at the Cursor status page. This page combines the official status page, our own reachability checks every minute and user reports.

Why does Cursor’s AI hang behind my company network?

Proxies that interfere with HTTP/2 streaming are a common cause. Switch to HTTP/1.1 compatibility mode, run the network diagnostics in Cursor Settings, and ask IT to allowlist Cursor’s domains.

Why can’t I use a model even though Cursor is up?

You’ve probably used up your monthly allowance. The dashboard shows your remaining usage and reset date; you can enable usage-based pricing, upgrade, or pick a model that still has allowance.

Does Cursor have an official status page?
